Vacation
I’m back from vacation and trying to adjust to getting up at 2:30 a.m. Yes, I love this job and can’t imagine doing anything else. With that said, the schedule is brutal. And, about the time you get used to sleeping until 6 or 7, vacation is over. It’s like jet lag without having gone anywhere.
The big thing that happened in my life while I was on vacation: my son passed his driver’s test. This was his first time at taking the test and he got a perfect score! The examiner told him that she had given only 4 perfect scores in her 22-years on the job and he just got one of them. I’m very proud of Isaac. I know at times he takes a ton of heat on the show, but for now, give him his moment in the sun. Congrats Isaac. I have been a ball of nerves since Thursday when he passed the test. I only hope he continues to make good decisions when he’s behind the wheel of “Hans” .. that’s what he calls is 1981 Volvo.
Meanwhile, daughter Aubrey is still trying to master a back handspring in order to make the Fairport cheer squad. She’s an 8th grader and is going to try out for the 9th grade team. It’s mandatory to learn this move. She’s been taking tumbling classes and working hard. Tryouts are in early September. Wish her luck, she’s going to need it.
My week off, besides running the kids around, was pretty low key. Very nice. Yes, I worked out almost everyday. It’s amazing how much better workouts go when you manage 7-8 hours of sleep. Ah, the good life. I also had a chance to attend the John Fogerty concert at CMAC on Thursday night. Listen, John is one of those guys everyone needs to see at least once. He’s as solid today as he was when he fronted CCR. He played for 2+ hours. Changed guitars between every song. When he performed “Centerfield” he played a guitar shaped like a Louisville Slugger. He’s a a member of the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, and once you see him, you’d know why. I was lucky enough to be in the fourth row. My friends Molly and Kevin had grass passes. I think they enjoyed the concert more than I did. When I think back to my favorite concerts, it makes the top five behind Springsteen at the War Memorial and the Eagles “Hell Freezes Over” tour. Buzz on baby!
