John Fogerty Concert

I’ve seen my fair share of concerts in my life.  My first was the Doobie Brothers during my freshman year in college.   I’ve seen some of the biggest and best including Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Tina Turner, and the Eagles.   I’ve also seen some terrible performances by Whitney Houston, Hall and Oates and Michael Bolton.   However, this past Thursday night I added John Fogerty to my list of “Best Concerts.”   I had the luck of getting seats in the fourth row.   This 62-year-old rocker has still got enough energy and sound to blow away people half his age.   He started with a blow the roof off the CMAC version of “Travelin’ Band.”   You name the CCR hit, he played it.   Plus, did incredible versions of “Who’ll Stop the Rain”, “Heard it Through the Grapevine” and “Fortunate Son.”   He also did a unforgettable rendition of “Centerfield” by playing it on a guitar shaped like a Louisville slugger.   I cheered, I sang along, I had a GREAT time.   Plus, kudos to the sound engineer.   They didn’t blow me out and his guitar didn’t overpower his voice.   It’s not often that I say this but if you see one concert in the next couple of years, go out of your way to see JOHN FOGERTY.  You’ll thank me later.
