My Best Friend

November 14th, 2008 by Beck

Kimberly celebrated her 43rd birthday on Thursday.   If you listen to the show, you know it’s been a hell of a year for her.  Divorce, breast cancer, mom leaving her right before surgery for breast cancer, etc.   It seemed like everyday she was being served a s**t sandwich and would take bite after bite out of it.   On November 13th, her divorce became final, she celebrated her birthday, and her radiation treatments are a thing of the past.   Listen, any one of those things would have knocked me on my ass.   Kimberly is the STRONGEST person I’ve ever worked with.    She never missed a day during her 5-day a week visits to Wilmot for radiation.   She never expected a “pity party” from Pat and me.   In fact, there were many times I forgot that she was battling cancer.    She continued to bust her butt on the show and live her life. For this alone I can’t imagine doing the show without her.   I’ll be honest with you, when she told me she had cancer, I did think, “How the hell am I going to be able to do this show without Kimberly?”   Now I know that was a stupid thought.   She’s a survivor my Kimberly.   Yes, I have to share her with other people outside the show, but between 5 and 10 a.m. I have her all to myself.    She has become the best partner I’ve ever worked with and an ever better friend.   I know there are times when you’re listening to The Breakfast Buzz it doesn’t seem like that, but it’s the truth.   So here’s wishing her the best year ever.   43 is going to be a great one for you, professionally and personally.   Happy birthday Kimberly!!
